In every month of August my hometown -- DAVAO CITY -- celebrates KADAYAWAN which is derived from the Mandaya word "Madayaw". The main event would usually happen every third weekend of the month. Being away from home makes me miss this kind of city events as i usually watch the Indak Indak sa Kadalanan (streetdancing competition) and the float parade and even watched some shows. This year I am missing it again but I am reading and watching the events that are happening, thanks to technology. At this celebration tourist from other countries and even local visits Davao to witness the event. And to welcome them Davao City treats them with the DAVAO PUNCH.

Those who are arriving in Davao City from August 11 - August 21, 2011 will be welcome with a PUNCH! :) .. It is a non alcoholic drink from the mixture of pomelo, guava, and calamansi. It was concocted by a chef from Center for Culinary Studies Davao in time for the Kadayawan Festival 2011.

Yearly a search for the indigenous young lady is being done for the Hiyas ng Kadayawan of the year. And for this year Princess Bai Rahima M. Usman from the Maranao Tribe won the crown.
