Just right in front of the Cebu City Hall is a chapel where it shelter's the Magellan's Cross .. For most when you say Cebu what comes first in mind is the Lapu-lapu and Magellan history and the Cross of Magellan which already become one of the significant spots in Cebu
As read, the cross was planted by Portuguese and Spanish explorers as ordered by Ferdinand Magellan on early 1521 to celebrate the baptism into the Roman Catholic religion of island chief Rajah Humabon, his wife Juana, and some 500 of their followers.
within the area there are devotees selling candles in different colors with particular meaning to be offered and if you're going to have some they'll do the prayer dance "sinulog dance"
As stated in the lower part of the cross, the original cross is encased inside the wooden cross that is erected in the center of the chapel to protect it from people who chipped parts of it for souvenir or with their beliefs that it possesses miraculous power.
